I have been doing a lot of studying lately. It's kind of a requirement when you're getting your Master's in Counseling. In between this studying and reading and avoiding current events, I have almost completely lost my faith in humanity. I would like it back. Despite what appears to be the current state of the world, I know that we can come back from this. We can become more dependent on our own intelligence, rather than technology. We can explore our ignorance, rather than rely on stereotypes to tell us what to think. We can learn how to think.
This blog is my exploration of humanity. Each week I will explore a topic that has been on my mind in an attempt to understand it. These are based on opinion and observation, not fact, although there will be times I will research in order to understand the issue that I am exploring. I will also include photos of things that I think are beautiful. I have been trying to use my new camera more and this way I will share evidence that there is still beauty in the world. These photos are also part of my effort to not take my surroundings for granted and to get outside more instead of sitting in front of the T.V.
Every once in a while I may share the books that I am reading. I have been reading WWII accounts and Margaret Atwood. I have also been catching up on Discworld and rereading the books on my shelf. What I may share of these experiences are the way they influence my perception of the world and its future. These will not be reviews of the book, especially since I recommend that they all be read. The best way to learn is to read. This is also the best way to learn how, rather than what, to think.
